A Celebration
Share
It is a celebration of a journey.
As Elk Season quickly approaches, I can’t help but get a little giddy with anticipation. There’s something undeniably special about chasing these beasts around the mountains and listening to their echoing bugles rip through the valleys. Pursuing them is a thrill like none other. A blood pumping, heart beating out of your chest, breath quickening, absolute rush of adrenaline that keeps you coming back to these hills year after year. Getting the chance to make the shot, capture the moment and put your hands on an animal like this truly elevates the experience beyond the wilds of your imagination.
Each inch of tine, each pound of flesh, each stroke of hand upon hair is a celebration in its own right. It is a celebration of a journey starting years before this animal even had antlers and one that will continue on for generations to come. A journey of developing passions, skills and desire to be able to pursue wild game throughout the world. A journey of physical preparation, mental fortitude and emotional strength to be able to continue day after day. A journey of a legacy forged by bow and arrow being passed down to young minds, forever eager for their own turn in due time.
Each step, each moment, each story is a part of the journey being celebrated in times like this. The trophy truly is real, but lies in why it is that we choose to dedicate our lives to chasing animals like this rather than just the glory of inches. Each bite of meat will be a reminder of the moments, furthering the celebration of this journey. Each future fireside conversation will warmly recall the struggles it took and will fondly reflect on how it all came tightly. Each time moment relived, another extension of a journey oh so sweet.
A celebration of animal, a celebration of companions and a celebration of a lifetime full of journeys.
